Emma : A slow read over the cold winter months

David M. Shapard in The Annotated Emma tells us:
that “several mysteries, involving many of the main characters, are crucial to the story in Emma.

Jane Austen developed these mysteries with great skill” and we will be “discussing the clues she provides and the way that seemingly innocuous words and actions take on special significance in the light of what is ultimately revealed.” 

Let’s keep an open mind as we meet Emma, the heroine Jane Austen said “no one but myself will much like.” 

We will be doing this over the cold winter months, starting with
Chapters 1-18 in January.
